turn led to the inner triple-chambered gatehouse. The gate forces a 90

This siege ramp is a remnant from the Assyrian siege of Lachish during Sennacherib' campaign, built by his army, steep -
about 45 degrees and used to push/pull at least 5 giant battering rams
[I counted 5 on the Nineveh Reliefs -Aa] that would eventually breach
the walls of the city. The people inside the city built a counter ramp
on the inside of the wall, covering the dwellings next to the wall to
reinforce it against the battering rams

General Taha said to General Yigal Yadin during the negotiations at
Kibbutz Gat. Yigal Yadin tried to persuade General Taha to surrender
after the Israeli army had trapped the Egyptian 9th Brigade, under the
command of General Taha, in the Falluj-Iraq-El-Manshiya 'pocket'.
General Taha's answer waswas that the Emir Farouk had forbidden the
surrender of the 9th Brigade and demanded that they fight till the last
man and that he, General Taha did not disobey his commands
